PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store detection results of liquid ejection/nonejection from each nozzle of a head in the head itself. SOLUTION: The liquid ejection detector comprises an electrode 9 arrange at such a position as touching liquid ejected from a head 6 before the liquid separates from the head 6, a power supply 11 for applying a predetermined voltage to a circuit including the head 6 and the electrode 9, a voltage detector 13 conducting before the liquid ejected from the head 6 separates from the head 6 and detecting ejection state based on the current flowing through the circuit, and a memory 60 mounted on the head and storing a high level output signal 99 from a voltage comparator 97 when the voltage detected by the voltage detector 13 has a predetermined level Vth.
