PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the matter of an ink jet recorder that since the characteristics of thickened and deteriorated ink vary to cause shift in impact position of an ink drop, disturbance in ejecting direction thereof and such a trouble as nonejection, parameters being used for controlling the print process are required to be altered as the viscosity of ink varies. SOLUTION: Characteristics of ink, e.g. viscosity, weight of an ink liquid drop and ejection speed, are measured while taking account of the time after ejection instruction before passage of the ink liquid drop through a sensor, the time when the ink liquid drop has passed through the sensor, and the environmental temperature.
