PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital signal recording method and an apparatus which can cope with the case in which a transmitting rate or a form of a recording signal is different. SOLUTION: The above purpose can be attained by that packets of (m) pieces of a digital signal of a packet form are arranged to blocks of (n) pieces, when the number of packets is m' pieces (m'<m), they are arranged at m'×n/m blocks. As arrangement of packets is completed with (n) block unit, the apparatus can easily cope with the case in which a transmitting rate or a form of a recording signal is different.
