PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of providing predetermined resolution as the entire screen even when a multi-screen image or wide screen image is reproduced using one projector. SOLUTION: The projector 1 includes a light source 10, liquid crystal devices 80R, 80G, and 80B, and a projection lens 100. The projector 1 further includes: a switching device 110 for switching a projecting direction between two directions, thereby projecting image light rays to two projecting areas A1 and A2 of a screen SCR; and an image data processor 200 for creating image data corresponding to the projecting areas A1 and A2. The projector 1 has the function of switching the projecting direction with a predetermined timing such that image light rays related to the image data created by the image data processor 200 are projected onto the projecting areas A1 and A2 of the screen SCR in order.
