PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display method capable of making high brightness and a wide color region compatible. SOLUTION: The method for displaying an image makes different color light incident on different optical modulation means, and composes emanated light from each optical modulation means. The method successively displays first images 41a and 41b of high brightness (low chromaticness) by a first spectrum from a first filter by arranging a rotary spectral filter on an optical path of each color light, and second images 42a and 42b of high chromaticness (low brightness) by a second spectrum from a second filter at each doubled speed frame.
