PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a green compact capable of efficiently obtaining a green compact with gradient density in which the density of one end side is lowest, and, as it approaches the other end side, the density is made high. SOLUTION: The method for producing a green compact comprises: a first packing stage where raw material powder 1 is packed into a cavity 60 partitioned by a die 61 having a through-hole and a lower punch 63 capable of sliding in the through-hole; a separator mounting stage where the upper part of the raw material powder 1 packed in the first packing stage is mounted with a separator (20); a second packing stage where raw material powder 1 in an amount same as that in the first packing stage is packed into the upper side of the separator (20); and a compacting stage where the raw material powder 1 and the separator (20) are sandwiched by the lower punch 63 and an upper punch 64 capable of sliding in the through hole, and further, the lower punch 63 and the upper punch 64 are moved, so as to compact a green compact in which the raw material powder 1 and the separator (20) are integrally compacted, wherein the green compact with gradient density in which the edge face side in contact the separator (M) has the lowest density is formed.
