PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hoistway device for an elevator, in which in-hoistway installation equipment such as car guide rails and a hoisting machine can be easily installed in a narrow and shallow hoistway pit. SOLUTION: A first support plate member 10 is installed to be close to a first side wall 3 of a bottom surface 2 of the hoistway 1 to set its width in a vertical direction. A cavity is formed to the first support plate member 10, and a second support plate member 11 is disposed on the opposite side of the first side wall side 3. An installation part 12 for the car guide rails 4 is formed to be retracted at a middle part of the length. Both the first and the second support plate members are connected by the first connection plate 14 on one side to the installation part 12, a second connection plate 18 on the other side, and a third connection plate 21 at a tip on the other side. The hoisting machine 8 is disposed on one side of both, and a shock absorber 7 for a counterweight is fastened to vertical surfaces of both between both on the other side.
