PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problems that when the thickness of the peripheral edge of the insulator composed of non-woven fabric and glass wool is thick, oil and water intrude into the glass wool from the peripheral edge in the use of the insulator, and the noise absorbing performance, which is one of the functions of the insulator for an automobile, is remarkably deteriorated, and on the contrary, when the thickness of the peripheral edge of the insulator is thin, the edge is easily chipped even by a slight shock and its value as goods is easily spoiled, and the hands of an operator are easily injured by the sharp cut-off surface of the glass wool. SOLUTION: When the thickness of the peripheral edge of the insulator is smaller than 2.0 mm, the intrusion of oil and water hardly occurs, and as a result, the deterioration of the noise absorbing performance hardly occurs. When the thickness of the peripheral edge of the insulator is larger than 0.5 mm, the peripheral edge does not chip by a slight shock, and the cut-off surface of the glass wool does not become sharp. Therefore, there is no fear of injuring the operator's hands. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
