PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform view regulation cancel or view regulation precisely for each of program contents according to a criterion of user himself/herself, independently of a criterion at the side of a broadcasting station or a playback apparatus. SOLUTION: In the view limiting apparatus, a microcomputer 70 accepts a view regulation cancel request from a user to a program of which the viewing is regulated at a view level set based on V-CHIP regulation, performs view regulation cancel processing of a view level of the program, further accepts a view regulation request from the user to a program of which the viewing is not regulated at the view level set on the basis of the V-CHIP regulation and performs view regulation processing of the view level of that program. If there is a program viewing request, on the basis of view propriety information indicating whether viewing is permitted or not stored in a storage unit 80, it is judged whether received video/audio information can be viewed or not.
