PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material testing machine with satisfactory repeatability of a mounting position of a gripper onto a joint member, and with the coincidence of upper and lower shaft centers of the gripper kept from collapsing even if the gripper is put to reattachment after it is detached. SOLUTION: A joint structure is employed wherein a shaft 11 is formed integrally with the gripper 1 with a male thread 11a cut in its root part to screw a lock nut 2 therein, the joint member 4 is firmly fixed to a load member (table) 3, with a hole 41 formed in the joint member 4 into which the shaft 11 is fitted, and the lock nut 2 is fastened, with a pin 6 inserted in caves 11b and 42 formed through the shaft 11 and joint member 4, thereby eliminating play between the pin 6 and the respective caves 11b and 42 for unification. A taper part 2a and a taper hole 41a are formed in the lock nut 2 and the hole 41 in the joint member 4, respectively. This causes the taper part 2a to fit into the taper hole 41a, in fastening the lock nut 2, and to center the gripper 1.
