PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve usability in a recording/reproducing device provided with a plurality of recording and/or reproducing parts including a disk drive. SOLUTION: When a CPU 3 detects an operation for opening a front panel via a front panel opening/closing detection part (step S11), in a step S12, the operational state of each disk is displayed on an LED in the front panel, wherein the LED of a display part of the front panel is turned off. In a step S13, a processing such as replacement of the disk is then performed, wherein an Eject request signal is detected. After loading the disk on the disk drive, when the closure of the panel is detected in a step S14, the CPU detects panel detection, turns on the LED of the display part provided to the front panel after detecting the closure of the front panel, and detects the operational state of each disk after turning off the LED of the display part exposed when the front panel is opened. The switching for turning on/off the display part of the front panel and the display part exposed when the front panel is opened may be controlled so as to turn it off after some delay after turning it on.
