PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which has a mechanism capable of pressing a heat roller and a pressure roller and releasing them from being pressed without increasing the rotary torque of a cam even when the heat roller and pressure roller have thick elastic layers and decrease in hardness. SOLUTION: The fixing device has the heat roller 241, the pressure roller 243 which contacts and leaves the heat roller, a 1st arm 244 which has one end rotatably fixed and holds the pressure roller movably halfway, a pressure spring 245 which has one end locked to the 1st arm, and the cam which selectively presses both the pressure spring 245 and 1st arm 244; and the cam rotates and presses the pressure spring to press the pressure roller and heat roller against each other and the cam rotates and directly presses the 1st arm to make the pressure roller and heat roller leave each other.
