PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner the optical element of which is fixed by a supporting means, and also to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The optical scanner is equipped with: a light source for emitting a light beam; an optical device for converting the light beam to a parallel beam; a plurality of holders for fixing the light source and the optical device; a deflector for deflecting/scanning the light beam emitted from the light source; an image forming optical system that makes the deflected light beam form an image on the surface of a photoreceptor; and a resin housing for storing the holders, a rotary polygon mirror and imagers. In this optical scanner, the imagers are of the same or similar shape and stacked in the sub-scanning direction, thereby eliminating lens sink generated when an optical device is made with one lens, improving the component yield, and also eliminating optical failures.
