PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent danger by quickly stopping the run of a crane when it starts running off along a slope due to brake failure in unexpected situation. SOLUTION: The crane is provided with a travel base 4 movable on a track installed with a gentle incline. The travel base 4 is provided with a travel speed detection means 21 for abnormality time, a brake shoe 25 to be directly applied to the track (travel rail 2) for braking, a brake shoe holding means 30 to hold the brake shoe 25 in a stand-by state, and a control means. As travel speed in a set abnormal speed and drive wheel locked state is detected by the travel speed detection means 21, the control means actuates the brake shoe holding means 30 to apply the brake shoe 25 on the travel surface of the track (travel rail 2) for braking.
