PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) considered to be preferable for clinical use. SOLUTION: The genetically engineered bFGF has an amino acid sequence: Ala-Gly-Ser- at the N-terminus and is substantially free from bFGFs having different N-terminus amino acid sequences.
