PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for adjusting pressure in a presser foot for a sewing machine, capable of simply, easily, and neatly sewing any kinds of workpieces in a desired sewing way without imposing burden on a base material itself. SOLUTION: When the workpieces B of various base materials are sewed in the desired sewing way, the operation speed of a sewing machine A is controlled to be the speed corresponding to the base materials of the workpieces B and the sewing way. The speed is shifted from low speed to high speed or from the high speed to the low speed in response to the stepping degree of a footboard 14. The device 1 for adjusting pressure in the presser foot for the sewing machine is operated in response to the stepping degree. Then the pressure of the presser foot Ad on the workpiece B is automatically adjusted.
