The tabletop (110) is divided into two stationary segments and a third segment (100) to be lifted into an inclined position in order to accommodate a book, a file, or a sheet of music. The front of the segment is joined to the frame of the table with hinges (131), the rear is equipped with a pair of stepped carrying elements (140) guided in rectangular holes located at a support board. The level of inclination can be adjusted by arresting the elements (140) at one of the steps.
