PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high durability against moisture, oxygen and the like. SOLUTION: An organic EL element 1 includes at least: a first substrate 10; a sealing substrate 28 facing the first substrate 10 spaced apart from it; a seal 29 sealing the first substrate 10 and the sealing substrate 28 for forming a sealed space between the first substrate 10 and the sealing substrate 28; source lines 12 and gate lines 13 formed on the first substrate 10; and pixel electrodes 21 electrically connected to the gate lines 13 and the source lines 12. The source lines 12 and the gate lines 13 are arranged in the sealed space, and have source extraction electrodes 30 connected to the source lines 12 and extracted from the sealed space; and the source extraction electrodes 30 are formed of the same film as that of the gate lines 13.
