PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat discharge lamp high in reliability of a connection between a current carrying pad and a lead and low in capacity increase and man-hour increase accompanying the connection. SOLUTION: Electrode leads 30a, 30b are respectively fixed to current carrying pads 22, 27 connected to an interdigital electrode 20 and a transparent electrode 28 with the tops or the crests of the electrode leads 30a, 30b pressed elastically by an adhesive material 32, so that electrical connection between the current carrying pads 22, 27 and the electrode leads 30a, 30b are not affected even by applied vibration and shock or generated heat and the like, and the intended electrical connection are kept. Further, the fixing structure for this kind of the electrode lead 30 does not need an posttreatment that the connection is covered by a resin in order to increase reliability, and the like. Therefore, the increase in the volume of the connection can be kept low. In addition, the electrode lead 30 can be mounted only by being inserted between a front plate 14 and a back plate 12 and being fixed with a frit glass, so that the man-hour is not increased especially.
