DISK DEVICE AND ITS CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device and its control method which can use a recording impossible area which is generated by a distance between the read head and the write head of a composition type magnetic head efficiently. SOLUTION: The disk device includes; a composition type magnetic head which is configured so that the write head WH can reach a servo area 31 earlier than the read head RH when recorded; and a recording and reproduction control part which controls the recording and the reproduction of the magnetic head, and a disk has the servo area 31 where common servo data SP which is to be used when recorded and reproduction, servo data SW for recording which is to be used when recorded and servo data SR for reproduction which is to be used during reproduction are recorded in this order. The recording and reproduction control part starts recording of data by a recording head in the servo area 31 start at the timing when the reproduction of the servo data SW for recording is completed when recorded.
