PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of an increase in man-hour of system initial construction because selection work of a server to be a business takeover destination from a system having a heterogenious hardware configuration is required in a method for realizing business takeover due to boot disk takeover in the case that a failure occurs in a server that uses an external disk drive to boot. SOLUTION: In a computer system in which a plurality of servers are connected to an external disk drive on a network and a server boots an operation system from the external disk drive, when business in the computer system, i.e., business processing is taken over to an inactive server at the time of the occurrence of a failure in the current server operating the business, the occurrence of the failure of the current server is detected, a server which has the same hardware configuration as that of the current server and is not operating business is retrieved in the computer system, the server found as a result of retrieval is made to be accessible to the external disk drive, and business takeover is performed by booting the server from the external disk drive.
