PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet transmission filter and a lens which employ colored glass including materials harmless to workers and cut an infrared area of 700 to 2,000 nm well to selectively transmit only ultraviolet rays of 280 to 420 nm. SOLUTION: The ultraviolet transmission filter or the lens has a glass and an optical interference film vapor-deposited on the glass, and the glass includes 1.5 to 15 wt% FeO, and the optical interference film consists of at least two layers made of two materials selected from a group including HfO<SB>2</SB>, Ta<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>. SiO<SB>2</SB>, MgO, and ZeO<SB>2</SB>. The safety in a manufacturing process is secured by using FeO as a colored material. Since the glass includes 1.5 to 15 wt% FeO, light in the infrared area of 700 to 2,000 nm is cut well.
