PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator tail cord jumping-out preventing device, capable of securely preventing such inconvenience that a tail cord jumps out of a housing duct outward even when a building is greatly shaken, or when effects of wind blowing in the duct are given by regulating swinging move of the tail cord housed in the housing duct. SOLUTION: In a cage 2, the tail cord 7 is suspended through a hitch 8, and the tail cord 7 is housed in the housing duct 10 that is separate from an elevator shaft 1. In a wall surface of the housing duct 10, a vertically long opening 11 in which the hitch 8 goes is formed. On the tail cord 7, a stopper member 20 is installed, and length L<SB>1</SB>of the stopper member is set to be larger than width L<SB>2</SB>of the opening 11. When the tail cord 7 is shaken in the housing duct 10, the stopper member 20 is hit to inner wall surfaces on both sides of the opening 11 to prevent the tail cord 7 from jumping out through the opening 11.
