Audio encoded information is transmitted at a high transmission rate via a digital interface such as IEC61937. At least one of a plurality of blocks, into which one frame of audio encoded information has been divided, has a body portion and a header portion containing management information used for managing the body portion. This management information indicates synchronizing word information, which is indicative of the beginning of the block, and further indicates the encoding type of the audio encoded information contained by the body portion, and the data length of the body portion. When the number of blocks of one frame becomes N times (where N is a natural number equal to or greater than two), M times the transmission clock (where M is any natural number) is used for transmission. Moreover, the header portion also contains the encoding type of the audio encoded information, the number of the blocks as divided, and the length of the data written in the body portion, and further contains synchronizing word information, which is indicative of the beginning of the block, and management information indicative of the order in which the data has been stored in the body portion.
