A power supply device is provided with a capacitor unit (7) wherein capacitors are connected in series; a charging section (8) for charging the capacitor unit (7) with a constant current; a detecting section (6) for detecting a voltage on a high potential side of each capacitor; and a judging section (4) for judging whether there is abnormality, based on the voltage detected by the detecting section (6). When there is a difference between the voltages on the high potential sides of the adjacent capacitors that exceeds an upper limit voltage value (Va) or that below a lower limit voltage value (Vb) or that of a negative voltage, it is judged abnormal.
