PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reading/recording apparatus which has satisfactory operability and high reliability of operations, can realize size reduction and cost reduction, and can realize reduction in a space required for installation and usage. SOLUTION: The apparatus has a recording sheet carrying means, recording means, recording cartridge, original carrying means, reading means, hand scanner including the reading means, and hand scanner attaching/detaching mechanism. The hand scanner and the cartridge are used in a state where they are attached on the front of a body with respect to an operator, and are attachable/detachable in the front direction of the body when they are attache or detached.
