PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adapter which is adaptable to a car model of each manufacturer, and capable of connecting a plurality of retrofitting apparatuses without causing any trouble in the use of an exclusive self-diagnosis machine. SOLUTION: The adapter for a self-diagnosis connector comprises an ECU side connector to be coupled with a connector for self-diagnosis of an electronic control device mounted on a vehicle, and a plurality of retrofitting side connectors for retrofitting apparatuses, and further comprises a first protocol recognition means to recognize the protocol of the electronic control device when the vehicle side connector is connected to the connector for self-diagnosis, a storage means to store the data output from the electronic control device according to the protocol recognized by the first protocol recognition means, and a second protocol recognition means to recognize the protocol of the retrofitting apparatus when the retrofitting apparatus is connected to the corresponding retrofitting connector.
