<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display panel and a display apparatus having excellent contrast of display. <P>SOLUTION: Ultraviolet light propagated through the inside of a light transmission plate 12a is turned at its direction by a prism 12f and emitted from a light emitting surface 12c to a liquid crystal display panel 11. The ultraviolet light made incident on the liquid crystal display panel 11 is converted into visible light through a visible light conversion layer which is a color filter layer 26. A fluorescent material included in the color filter layer 26 emits visible fluorescence by irradiation with ultraviolet light. The visible light is reflected by a reflection layer 25, transmitted from the liquid crystal display panel 11 through the light transmission plate 12a of a front light 12 and a cover member 13 and observed by an observer 14. A part of the ultraviolet light is light other than a visible area because the light reflected on the light emitting surface 12c and the surface of the liquid crystal display panel 11 is not transmitted through the visible conversion layer. Thus, even when the reflected light is turned to the observer 14, the observer 14 can not recognize the reflected light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
