OPERATING METHOD OF ROTARY PRESS AND CONTROL DEVICE THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a defective printed spoilage fold section at the time of start and stop of printing in a newspaper rotary press, to enable printing in various forms without increasing printing costs and to improve the rate of operation of the press.

SOLUTION: Methods for operation and control of the rotary press are so constituted that the timing of throwing-on/off of the cylinder in a plurality of juxtaposed printing units can be changed and set individually and independently and further that a web running path length of each printing unit is selected corresponding to printing specifications such as setup of pages and the timing of throwing on/off of the cylinder in each printing unit is selected or computed on the basis of a difference in the web running path length so that a preset control can be executed automatically.
