PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map display apparatus magnifying and displaying an area crowded by a plurality of searching routes, and also to provide a navigation apparatus with the map display apparatus. SOLUTION: An area for displaying a road map is divided to set a cell 111. Then X-direction denseness indicating a crowded degree in the X direction of a link 112 existing in the cell 111, is calculated from the Y-direction component 113 and Y-direction length 115 of the link 112 existing in the cell 111 and Y-direction denseness indicating a crowded degree in the Y direction of the link 112, is calculated from the X-direction component 114 and X-direction length 116 of the link 112 existing in the cell 111.
