PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder which can attain effective utilization of a nonvolatile memory. SOLUTION: A printer stores a factory shipping time state flag which shows a factory shipping time state to the whole of an area initially set at a factory among areas of the nonvolatile memory. When the factory shipping time state flag is on, the area which shows a factory shipping time and is initially set at the factory is made to function as a shipment arrival time flag and a 24-hour timer counter of the infancy.
