PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejecting apparatus which can carry out spare ejection to a transfer part side in the case of ejecting a liquid to a medium by a line head while the medium is transferred by the transfer part, and to provide a liquid spare ejection method in a liquid ejecting apparatus. SOLUTION: The liquid ejecting apparatus 10 which ejects the liquid to the medium M is equipped with the line head 20 with a plurality of nozzles for ejecting the liquid to the medium M, and the transfer part which carries the medium M on a loading face to transfer in a transfer direction T and moves the medium M to the line head 20. A plurality of holes 40 for spare ejection are formed in the transfer part to pass the liquid which is sparely ejected from the nozzles of the line head 20 to recover the ejection capability of the nozzles.
