摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air-fuel ratio control method with high robustness and adaptability with respect to a type of an exhaust system, variation in a sensor characteristic, or secular change of a mechanism. SOLUTION: The present invention provides an air-fuel ratio control device for smoothing variation in air-fuel ratio between cylinders, in an internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinders. This device comprises: a sensor measuring output of the internal combustion engine; a means calculating correlation functions for each cylinder, by the mutual correlation between a sensor measurement value and reference signal set for each cylinder; a means calculating a target smoothing value commonly used for the cylinders; and a control means for each cylinder generating control input for each cylinder to converge the correlation functions into the target smoothing value. By the constitution, even if there is any error in modeling or wasted time, the air-fuel ratio for each cylinder is stably and quickly estimated and the air-fuel ratio is stably and quickly converged into the target value.
