The cryotank (1) has gaseous hydrogen removing unit with a take-off pipe (3), and a heating device (7) for heating condensed gas e.g. liquid hydrogen. The device heats an upper region of a container unit (8) that stands in connection with the condensed gas. The container unit extends in the vertical direction over the entire container height and possesses capillary or open-celled porous structure in the vertical direction. An independent claim is also included for a method for removing gas e.g. gaseous hydrogen, from a cryotank for a motor vehicle.
