<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve recording quality in a multi-layer structured optical disk. <P>SOLUTION: The optical disk device pre-stores as a β-characteristic a correlation between a β-value of an L0 layer which is a recording layer on the incident side, and a β-value of an L1 layer which is the second recording layer. Also, in OPC, the optical disk acquires a correlation between recording power to the L1 layer and the β-value of the L1 layer as a power characteristic. When recording data on the L1 layer , the optical disk device measures a β-value of the L0 layer area corresponding to the recording area of the data (S36). Then, based on the β-value of this L0 layer, the stored β-characteristic, and the power characteristic, the optical disk device acquires recording power of the L1 layer (S38 to S42), and carries out data recording with the acquired recording power. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
