<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inexpensive photo-interrupter of a low current consumption. <P>SOLUTION: A light emitting part 12 is provided to emit a pulse light to a passing area of an object. An oscillation drive circuit 11 is provided to pulse-drive the light emitting part 12. A photodiode 13a is provided to convert the pulse light from the passing area into a pulse current to be output. An integration circuit 14 is provided to integrate a pulse signal based on the pulse current to be output, and to differ a time constant of a rising of the pulse signal from that of a falling of the pulse signal each other.
