<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a printing mode setting method for a conventional printing device simplifies several kinds of settings from among various printing mode settings, and a user has to know the definitions and the contents of all the printing mode settings in advance. <P>SOLUTION: This printing device comprises a printing mechanism section, a printing control section, an operation panel, and a non-volatile storage element. In this case, the printing mechanism section executes a printing by a plurality of hammer banks which reciprocate to the right and the left in the digit direction. The printing control section controls the printing speed and the copying capacity by changing the hitting time and the frequency of the hammer banks of the printing mechanism section, and a printing dot density. The operation panel can execute the selection and the setting of printing modes, and a test printing. The non-volatile storage element stores the printing mode and test printing sample data.
