<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a wireless communication device from continuing to operate with possibility to communicate with external devices without fulfilling its security function. <P>SOLUTION: When a combination machine is turned on, a wireless LAN controller incorporated in the combination machine enables the wireless LAN function and enables itself to wirelessly communicate with external devices. Then it executes a security checking and judges whether the authentification function and the encryption function are enabled (S410). When the authentification function and the encryption function are not enabled, it starts a timer (S460), disables the wireless LAN function after a predetermined time, and restricts wireless communication between itself and external devices. In this case, it prohibits output of beacons including its SSID, and refrains from responding except to probe requests addressed to itself. It prevents wireless communication between itself and external devices by concealing the wireless LAN controller 30 from external devices which are unaware of its SSID. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
