PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high positioning accuracy of a recording medium guide and to prevent the occurrence of misalignment of recording media even if the number of recording media stored is large by regulating the rotation of a gear having a larger diameter than a gear engaged with a rack of a recording medium guide by use of a regulating member. SOLUTION: This recording medium storing device for storing the recording media includes: first and second recording medium guides respectively provided with a rack; a first gear 39 and a second gear 40 which are engaged with the respective racks, so that the gear 39 interlocks the first and second recording medium guide, and the gear 40 forms a two-stage gear with the first gear 39; and a second gear regulating member 41 to regulate the rotation of the second gear 40, wherein the diameter of the second gear 40 is larger than that of the first gear.
