PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering gear for an outboard motor equipped with an electronic control unit to control the drive of an actuator connected with a steering shaft in accordance with the rotation of a steering wheel, capable of fixing the steering wheel when the electronic control unit is out of operation. SOLUTION: The steering gear of the outboard motor is equipped with the electronic control unit (ECU) to control the drive of a swivel shaft (steering shaft) in accordance with the rotation of the steering wheel, wherein the arrangement further includes an electric switch to connect or cut off a current feeding circuit from the power supply to the electronic control unit (key unit 66 and ignition key 68) and a fixing mechanism 84 connected with the electric switch and fix the steering wheel in accordance with the switch operation arranged freely operatably by a driver in the vicinity of the steering wheel.
