The arrangement has middle and mass electrodes (18, 19) that lie opposite, and circular front and rear electrode gaps (17`, 17``) changeable in direction of flow between a front area and a rear area. The gaps are provided between the electrodes, such that distance between the electrodes in the front area is smaller than in the rear area. An electrode zone is formed between two parallel electrode surfaces in the front area. An independent claim is also included for a spark plug with an electrode arrangement and electrode geometry.
