The device has a pre-conditioning station (200) with a tires lot (L) and a station (300) compressing the lot. A package unit (400) has application systems (410, 420) to tension bands (BY, BX) around the lot, by rolling around a horizontal axis (YY`) perpendicular to axis (XX`), and by variable pitch helical winding around axis perpendicular to the axis (XX`), while maintaining the lot in compression between conveyors (430, 440). Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a method for packing lot of tires (B) a packed lot of tires in which covers are arranged.
