994,178. Inverting. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd. Dec. 14, 1961 [June 6, 1961], No. 624/61. Heading H2F. An inverter circuit comprises controllable semi-conductor switching devices TS1, TS2 connected with a D.C. supply and controlled to supply current to the two halves of a divided primary winding of a transformer T1 whose secondary circuit includes a capacitor C1 so as to form a resonant circuit tuned to a frequency greater than the operating frequency, the controllable semi-conductor rectifiers being shunted by diodes MR1, MR2 to permit the flow of current in the reverse sense. An inductance may be connected in series with each controllable rectifier, and these may be transistors or semi-conductor controlled rectifiers. |
