The device has an electrical-optical converter (2) providing an optical carrier on which microwave frequency signal (1) is placed. An optical fiber transfers the signal from the converter (2) to an optical-electrical converter e.g. photodiode (4), that provides an electrical signal proportional to the signal (1). A voltage (5) polarizing the photodiode is generated by a photoconductive switch (6) supplied by a supply voltage (7).
