A bell rope disconnection and length adjustment device which is clamped to the bell wheel spokes using plates 1 and 2. The bell rope is wound around a carrier which rotates between plates 2 and 3. The carrier cannot rotate while the carrier rotation stop is blocking its path of rotation. The carrier rotation stop consists of two 'L' shaped components 9 which are hinged on plate 3 and joined by bar 11. A tube 13 is connected to the carrier rotation stop and rests on a bracket fitted to the stay. Should the stay break, the tube 13 is pulled down by the spring 15 allowing the carrier to rotate and the rope to unwind. The tube 13 may be lowered intentionally by the operator, and, a winding handle fitted at point 6 enables the carrier to be rotated to adjust the sally position in the bell ringing chamber. |
