The invention relates to an electric machine comprising a brush holder (5) for retaining brushes (6), said brush holder (5) being located in a housing (2). The housing (2) or housing cover (3) has an elastic region (4; 11), which enables the brush holder (5) to be positioned in relation to the commutator (7) from outside the housing. The invention also relates to a mounting method for the brush holder of an electric machine.
