A material for organic electroluminescent elements having a high luminescent efficiency, a long life, and high heat resistance; and a process for producing the material. The material is represented by gereral formula (1). In the formula, A represents optionally substituted C 22-60 arylene; X 1 to X 4 each represents optionally substituted C 6-30 arylene; Y 1 to Y 4 each represents an organic group represented by general formula (2); and a to d each is 0 to 2. In the formula, R 1 to R 4 each represents hydrogen, optionally substituted alkyl or aryl, or cyano, provided that R 3 may be bonded to R 4 to form a triple bond; Z represents optionally substituted aryl; and n is 0 or 1.
