Stabilisers for halogen-contg. polymers (esp. vinyl chloride (co)polymers) comprising (a) a calcium salt of an alkoxybenzoic acid HOOC(C6H4)OR where R=C1-4 alkyl, and (b) a zinc salt of an aliphatic monocarboxylic acid. Preferred components (a) are o- or m-alkoxy-benzoates, esp. calcium o-methoxy benzoate. Zinc salt (b) is pref. derived from a C6-18 aliphatic monocarboxylic acid, e.g. caproic acid, lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid or stearic acid. The preferred ratio Ca:Zn presen= 1.5:1 to 2.5:1, esp. 2:1, and at least 60% of the Ca present should be in the form of the alkoxybenzoate. |
