The procedure for making a lingerie article such as a brassiere with a basque (24) extending beneath the cups (16, 18) consists of forming the basque by retaining a series of contiguous stitches aligned in the direction of the weft. These stitches, when relaxed, form a rolled strip parallel to the basque that provides stiffening (26) under the cups. The number of retained stitches can be varied progressively in the weft direction on either side of the central portions of the stiffening zones (46). |
