The method involves triggering a delay associated to a determined waiting time and obtaining state information relative to a current operation state of a node. The node is remotely reinitialized if the waiting time is lapsed and if the node is in search condition, in order to effectuate a preventive maintenance of the node. The waiting time is variable according to a request emitted by the node. An independent claim is also included for a central switching unit comprising a node maintenance management device.
